Summit Healthcare Raises the Bar for Interface Engine Functionality, Ease-of-Use and Security with Newest Version of Summit Express Connect

Summit Healthcare, a leader in healthcare system integration and task automation, today announced the latest version of its industry-leading interface engine, featuring a wide range of new features and enhancements that set a new standard for functionality, ease-of-use, stability and security.

Summit Express Connect 9 (EC9) is the latest iteration of Summit Healthcare’s interface engine which has long been a leading interface consolidation solution for MEDITECH organizations seeking to avoid costly per-interface maintenance fees, reduce IT management overhead and streamline major IT initiatives such as a migration to MEDITECH 6.0. The new version emphasizes ease-of-use to allow ongoing interface management to be carried out by general IT staff without specific interface development training.

"At Summit Healthcare, we listened to our customers' feedback and worked to deliver a versatile, user-friendly product to solve the interoperability challenges that our clients were facing," said Paul Actis, VP Development, Summit Healthcare. "With Summit Express Connect 9, we believe we've delivered a product that will not only enable any analyst to build complex interfaces but also provide scalable technology features to meet the needs of the hospital interface development team.  EC 9 is truly one stop shopping for hospital integration."

New and enhanced features available in EC9 will:

  • Simplify the end user experience
  • Save time when building, validating and troubleshooting interfaces
  • Enhance security and auditing features

The release of EC 9 unveils the Summit APEX Mapper (SAM). SAM was built with the end user in mind to purely enhance the end user experience. Ease of use was a driving factor during the entire development process.

Features of the Summit APEX Mapper include:

  • Ability to design simple and complex interfaces visually in minutes through point and click methodology

  • Watch your data move through the engine, highlighting areas for editing to ensure message success

  • Easy maintenance with field auto-generated documentation allowing for anyone to understand what the interface is suppose to be doing

  • Support of Access or SQL database table queries and crosswalk tables to accommodate different values across vendor systems

  • Save time by reusing mapping and filter logic between interface

Another notable new feature in this version is the support of a SQL Server Database. SQL allows for efficient access and organization of data including advanced security, storage and reporting services. SQL also enables enhanced message logging and resubmission options.

Enhanced end user security features allow administrators to assign access levels based on role. The application also archives messages in a permanent read-only state, ensuring full data integrity and an accurate log of engine activity.

“The Express Connect team has done an amazing job with EC9, and the new features and infrastructure improvements they have implemented promise to significantly extend our leadership in the industry,” said Ted Rossi, President and CEO, Summit Healthcare. “We have seen tremendous demand for a unified integration platform that relies less on programming knowledge and empowers the application analyst to build the interfaces. With MEDITECH 6.0 migrations, Meaningful Use and other major HIT initiatives coming down the pike, EC 9 allows for a more manageable and streamlined exchange of electronic information.”
