Thompson Health Finds Easy Application Integration with the Summit Express Connect & Summit Scripting Toolkit
The Challenge:
Thompson Health is an integrated health care system that delivers the highest-quality, comprehensive health care in the Finger Lakes region. Their priority was for bi-directional integration between the Meditech and T-System applications for ADT and Order information.
The Solution:
Thomson Health utilizes the Summit Express Connect interface engine including the Summit Scripting Toolkitto cover the needs of their HL7 and scripting interfaces. ADT messages are transmitted from Meditech and sent to T-System, and then Results are transmitted from T-System to Meditech. The ADT messages are routed through the Summit Integration Suite to enable them to leverage that interface for other uses if needed in the future. Each new ADT feed needed will be branched from this feed. For the Results (ORU), Thompson opted not to purchase the inbound feed into Meditech. Instead, results are output from T-System via HL7, queued through the Summit engine, and then scripted into Meditech using the Summit Scripting Toolkit. In addition, Thompson leveraged the Summit Scripting Toolkit to script in transcribed reports from T-Systems to Meditech.

- Thompson Health utilized Summit Healthcare’s Integration Outsourcing Services to get the integration done quickly with no additional internal resources needed
- Saved money by branching existing feeds for multiple purposes
- Will be increasing their overall return on investment for the Summit Express Connect interface engine purchase with integration projects throughout the hospital in the near future
