Cayuga Medical Center Implements Summit Provider Exchange for Physician Office Integration

Summit Healthcare APEX Product Suite to be leveraged for Future MEDITECH Integration Projects Including 6.0 Migration

Braintree, Mass., August 24, 2010-- Ithaca, New York’s Cayuga Medical Center has contracted with Summit Healthcare, a leader in healthcare system integration and task automation, for its full Summit Apex integrated product suite. Cayuga has successfully implemented Summit Provider Exchange - a scalable, secure physician office integration solution that facilitates the bi-directional communication of patient data between MEDITECH and the ambulatory EMR practices.

Cayuga Medical Center, a 204-bed, acute care medical center focused on state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment services, was looking for a way to integrate with its physician offices’ MEDENT EMR. Cayuga selected Summit physician office integration technology to facilitate the exchange of patient data, such as orders and results, to its offices, with the ability to add more EMR systems at any time. Cayuga is currently working with Summit Healthcare to implement a script to pre-register patients in MEDITECH and send orders to the hospital once the patient has presented.

“We chose to partner with Summit Healthcare not only for our physician office integration needs, but also to build the foundation for our upcoming migration to MEDITECH 6.0,” said Megan Fisher, Director of Information Systems Applications and Consulting, Cayuga Medical Center. “Summit Healthcare’s integration tools will prepare us for whatever challenges and opportunities come next, while the company’s deep MEDITECH integration expertise will continue to guide us down the right migration path.”

Cayuga has also implemented Summit Express Connect, a robust interface engine used for hospital integration with 3rd party vendor systems. With the ability to develop and manage its interfaces in one easy-to-use application, Cayuga has already gone live with over twenty interfaces in the engine alone. The Summit Apex product suite will also help with Cayuga’s future plans, which include a 2011 migration to MEDITECH 6.0.

“Cayuga joins many other facilities in what we see as a growing trend of medical centers facing the challenges of physician office integration, migration and interface consolidation,” said Ted Rossi, president and CEO, Summit Healthcare. “These organizations are looking to create the integration and automation infrastructure needed to meet their immediate challenges and to set them up for future initiatives.”

  • Summit Express Connect — a robust interface engine used for both hospital and physician office EMR integration with 3rd party vendor systems.
  • Summit Provider Exchange — a scalable, secure solution that facilitates the integration of bi-directional patient data between the hospital and the EMR at the physician office or clinic.
  • Summit Scripting Toolkit a full-featured workflow and task automation tool that also provides the means to extract and parse data, and is often used when conventional (HL7) methods to deliver data are not available.
  • Summit InSync — the market leading solution for dictionary maintenance accomplished through a powerful extraction, analysis and update process that ensures dictionaries are synchronized from test to live and across multiple facilities or platforms.
  • Summit Downtime Reporting System — ensures continuous access to critical patient data for clinicians at all times, to ensure quality of care and operational continuity in the event of MEDITECH or network downtime.
