Patient vital signs information needs to be transferred from a point-of-care, mobile clinical workstation into the HCIS, for example Meditech’s Nursing/Patient Care System (PCS). Hospitals want to eliminate duplicate data entry, avoid manual transcription errors, and provide the clinicians with rapid access to patient data.
The Summit Scripting Toolkit was used to create a near-real time interface that runs 24/7 between the Stinger Medical’s Levitator™ mobile clinical workstation and integriti® vital signs monitor and the Meditech NUR/PCS module. When a nurse takes vitals for a patient the Summit Scripting Toolkit receives messages in a file folder sent from the Stinger Medical Levitator™ mobile clinical workstation and integriti® vital signs monitor containing the patient information (temperature, pulse, respiration, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, pain intensity and more). The information is parsed and validated (facility and valid ranges for vitals information) prior to being automatically uploaded to Meditech Nursing/PCS.
- Provides the clinicians rapid access to their data and expedites the delivery of patient care
- Optimizes the process of documenting vital sign information into the patient care system
- Eliminates duplicate data entry and the possibility of data entry errors
- Error logging, alerting and summary reports keep the interface running smoothly
