Capital Region Medical Center Utilizes Express Connect and Outsourcing Services for Integration throughout the Hospital
The Challenge:
Capital Region Medical Center, a 100-bed full service acute care facility in Missouri, realized that their current integration technology did not support the growth they were anticipating. They wanted to leverage existing interfaces to clinical systems throughout the hospital and were planning to integrate with physician offices in the near future.
The Solution:
Capital Region Medical Center uses the Summit Express Connect interface engine to give them a robust easy-to-use integration product that allows them to rapidly add additional interfaces and utilize existing feeds. They have saved $150,000 alone by no longer purchasing point-to-point interfaces over the last year and a half. The end users of the integrated clinical systems love the increased workflow efficiency. Physicians are especially pleased to have access to a wide variety of clinical results and documents all available to them within the Meditech EMR. Express Connect’s integrated dashboard allows Capital Region to monitor the interfaces as well as alert them by email if there is a problem. They will also be implementing a Physician Office Integration solution at no additional cost by utilizing Express Connect and existing interface feeds.
In addition, Capital Region uses Summit Integration Outsourcing services to save time, resources and cost. The dedicated engineer provided by Summit Healthcare takes care of the interface development by providing all the filters and mapping needed for the interfaces as well as communication with the vendors of the 3rd party systems. The dedicated engineer assigned to their hospital knows their interfaces and configuration and is readily available for any questions, modifications or problems. In addition, the outsourcing services have resulted in a 50% decrease in the amount of time it takes to integrate a clinical system at the hospital.
Engagement Highlights:
- $150,000 savings by eliminating repurchasing of point-to-point interface feeds
