Giving back to the community is important to us and we are proud to have co-sponsored for the past decade, the Heart of MUSE program. Summit Healthcare and the MUSE board partner together every year to raise thousands of dollars to be donated to a chosen charity. We are honored to continue this tradition every year and look forward to 2015.
This year the Heart of MUSE recipient was Ability Connection Texas (ACT) located in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. For over 60 years, ACT has been providing care and support to people of all ages with disabilities of all types. Having the ability to provide a full range of services for people with physical and intellectual disabilities, as they strive to achieve independence is ACT's leading mission.
The Heart of MUSE continues to be the epicenter of the MUSE International Conference every year where throughout the conference attendees and participants are given the opportunity to donate to the foundation. Summit Healthcare matched every donation made and this year the Ability Connection Texas foundation received a $2,780 donation to be used toward programs and events.
The chosen charity of 2013 was the Joubert Syndrome & Related Disorders Foundation. The Mission of JSRDF is to serve those individuals and families affected by Joubert Syndrome or related disorders by creating opportunities for the individuals, families, researchers/medical professionals to connect. Creating these small communitites allows individuals and families to get the support they need; in all forms, be it emotional support, education, research and even financial need. This year Summit Healthcare in partnership with the Heart of MUSE donated $4,700 to this important organization.
Give Kids the World Village, is a nonprofit resort in Orlando, FL where children with life threatening illnesses and their families are treated to week long, cost free fantasy vacations. For the past 16 years, GKTWV has welcomed over 115,000 families worldwide.
This year Summit Healthcare in partnership with the Heart of MUSE donated $4,350 to this wonderful cause.
Summit Healthcare in conjunction with the MUSE participants will donate money raised through the Heart of MUSE event at MUSE International to Hands On Nashville. HON connects over 200,000 volunteers with service opportunities. In 2010, they focused on issues such as hunger, homelessness, at-risk youths and seniors.
Summit Healthcare in conjunction with the MUSE participants donated $2,500 to the well deserving children's charity located in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. Monies donated allow for thousands of underprivileged children to enjoy christmas or a simple summer picnic.
The donation amount to the "Meals on Wheels" program totaled $4,000 in 2009. This donation amount was built through both a 50/50 raffle with attendee contributions and Summit Healthcare generous sponsorship. We were pleased to give back to the senior citizen community of Vancouver, BC.
The charity in 2008 was the Senior Citizens of the Dallas/Forth worth area which provides a wonderful set of programs that allow senior citizens to live independently in their golden years. Summit Healthcare in conjunction with the MUSE organization contributed $3,500 to this charity in 2008.
