Pam Doherty

VP,
New Business Development

Welcome!

Hi, my name is Pam Doherty and I’d like to invite you to join your colleagues and Summit Healthcare's integration team for a few minutes each month to see what’s cooking on the healthcare integration pot.

Everyone is so busy just getting through the never-ending merry-go-round of challenges presented during a days work in healthcare IT.  There is rarely enough spare time to research every nook and cranny of prospective integration products. Yet the catch 22 is that if you don’t perform adequate research, dollars to doughnuts, it will surely eat your lunch in the long run!  Failing to 'look before you leap' when purchasing an integration product usually results in paying more than you need to, or worse, you end up with a function limiting or unreliable application.

To that end, Summit Healthcare and its integration experts have made a concerted effort to make life easier for world weary IT professionals by providing interactive publications such as Pam’s Corner; a forum for idea swapping and information sharing among integration peers.  So, sit back for a few; point, click and enjoy the collage of informative articles and resources that the integration experts at Summit Healthcare have put together for you.

Introducing Pam’s Corner

Summit Healthcare is proud to announce Pam’s Corner Volume 1.0.   Pam’s Corner will be distributed monthly and will feature healthcare integration topics written by Summit Healthcare experts and Pam Doherty; a healthcare integration veteran of over 20 years and Summit Healthcare’s VP of New Business Development.  Pam’s Corner will talk about the many integration challenges that healthcare organizations face day-to-day and how the right integration technology and practices can help solve simple to complex interoperability problems.  Regular topics covered in this publication will include:

  • Inside Integration: In this section, you will find a goldmine of information that peels back “the onion” of integration.  Find out what works, what doesn’t and why!
  • Feature Perfect: Here you will find out the importance of uncovering an integration product’s feature list and how to make the most of your healthcare integration tools.
  • Ask Your Colleagues: A walk on the lighter side of healthcare integration!  This section features a quote of the month from Pam’s favorite library of quotes and will provide a forum for IT professionals to share anecdotes from the field that outline their experiences and integration war stories.  You can also share your thoughts on a wide variety of integration issues. Let’s use this space to help you get your integration wheels turning!

Inside Integration

To Script or Not to Script – That is the Question!

Crawl before you can walk, walk before you can run!  We all are very familiar with the concept!  But how many individuals that you know leap into huge integration projects without knowing the why behind the how?  If you don’t clearly understand the ‘why’ of a project, knowing the ‘what’, ‘when’ and ‘how’ is harder than you think!  Deciding the best method for healthcare data exchange is no exception to this rule.

Calling all Integrators

Stories, and the sharing thereof, has been going on since the Neanderthals first discovered fire – probably with a lot of grunting going on, but I’m sure the point was made and the lesson learned.

What’s in a Feature?

Find out ‘must have features’ in a synchronization tool!

Features, Features, Features! Just where do you start when you begin the process of choosing a vendor for a particular integration product?  What are the DOs and the DON'Ts that must be done or, in turn, avoided in order to be sure you're selecting the right integration tool for the job?
