Summit Healthcare Supports this Year’s Recipient of the Heart of MUSE Foundation: A Gift For Teaching

The international MUSE Conference is one of the largest MEDITECH user group conferences in the country. Every year, the conference gives individuals and organizations in the healthcare industry a chance to come together for networking, professional development, thought leadership, new product and solution highlights, and interactive demos. The conference also gives attendees the chance to give back to the local community by supporting a charity or foundation through an initiative known as the “Heart of MUSE”.
For the past fourteen years, Summit Healthcare has been proud to partner with the MUSE organization to support this great cause. At this year’s 2018 MUSE Conference, the local charity selected as the Heart of MUSE was A Gift For Teaching. During the conference, all attendees were given the opportunity to donate to the organization by purchasing a $5 pin. This year, Summit Healthcare’s contribution almost tripled the proceeds of all pins sold throughout the conference. 100 percent of the funding went directly to the nonprofit, totaling $3,900 for A Gift For Teaching.
“Summit Healthcare has impacted the healthcare industry through our integration and automation technologies, but we also have a desire and commitment to positively impact our local communities,” said Ted Rossi, CEO, Summit Healthcare. “We look forward to opportunities like the Heart of MUSE, where we have the chance to get involved with admirable foundations throughout the country, such as A Gift For Teaching”.
Founded in 1998, A Gift For Teaching provides the necessary resources and materials to allow teachers and students to thrive throughout each school year. While supplying basic needs to classrooms, A Gift For Teaching also has programs that ensure students have access to other resources such as art supplies, and music education. Today, they serve 338 public schools.
“We are overwhelmed by the generosity from Summit Healthcare and the MUSE community. For every dollar received, A Gift For Teaching can provide up to ten dollars’ worth of essential school supplies that go back into the classroom and into the hands of children in need,” said Jane Thompson, President of A Gift For Teaching.
On the last day of the conference, Friday June 1, 2018 Summit Healthcare presented the donation to A Gift For Teaching, to close out a both successful and fulfilling event.

About A Gift For Teaching
A Gift For Teaching (AGFT) is Central Florida’s primary provider of free school supplies to teachers for their students in need, enabling them to dream, create and experience success in school and life.  In its 20 year history, AGFT has distributed nearly $120 million worth of school supplies – including essential classroom tools such as pencils, notebooks, glue, backpacks, art supplies and books –to local students in need. This distribution milestone not only represents the millions of learning opportunities that children might not have had otherwise, but also the millions of dollars that teachers were not forced to spend out of their own pockets during 300,000 shopping visits to AGFT’s Free Stores, Pencil Boy Express – The Mobile Free Store and Pencil Boy Online.
