Multiple Hospitals Adopt Innovative New Product to Ensure Compliance with the CMS Conditions of Participation (CoPs)

Braintree, Mass., March 24, 2021 Summit Healthcare’s Provider Alert solution, the market-leading technology for ADT notifications and care coordination, has received strong adoption in the industry in Q1 2021.

Provider Alert is a web and mobile-based solution that utilizes powerful interoperability technology to provide real-time notifications of critical patient events as they happen. ADT alerts and other electronic notifications facilitate communication and transition of care between hospital and care teams, enabling proactive notifications with in-network and out-of-network providers from a centralized, secure system. Provider Alert will help to lower re-admissions and reduce costs to the hospital and the health care system as a whole, as clinical events and risk factors are transferred seamlessly to hospital staff, case managers and providers at, and even before, discharge.

Hospitals have until May 1, 2021 to implement a solution to attest for the CMS’s new E-notifications Conditions of Participation (CoPs) or risk losing their certification and reimbursements. Hospitals, including psychiatric hospitals and critical access hospitals, are required to send electronic event notifications of a patient’s admission, discharge, and/or transfer to another healthcare facility or to another community provider or practitioner.

Many hospitals, especially in today’s climate, would be dangerously impacted financially if they lost CMS accreditation, so the urgency in finding and implementing a proven technology ahead of the May 1st deadline has led both current and net new customers to select Summit Healthcare. The most recent Provider Alert signings include Lincoln Surgical Hospital in Lincoln, NE, Bartlett Regional Hospital in Juneau, AK, and Madera Community Hospital in Madera, CA.

Provider Alert is a component of the powerful integration platform, All Access. While some customers initially chose Provider Alert for the ADT alerting feature, Lincoln Surgical had additional integration needs that All Access was able to help them accomplish. Advanced functionality of All Access includes on-demand access to corresponding patient data and documents for the entire care community without giving full EHR permissions. The web-enabled platform will also be used to provide secure, audited distribution of electronic patient data in the event of a network or EHR downtime.

The ADT alerting will not only allow hospitals to meet the most recent CMS CoPs, but it will also aid with the doctors’ offices meeting their own quality measures, or MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System). Having this technology in place will be a mutually beneficial relationship between healthcare organizations as well as their community of providers.

The implementation of All Access has been seamless thanks to the agendas, follow up tasks and availability of Summit’s implementation team to answer questions during the week, between weekly calls”, said Kimberly McCarty, IT Applications Supervisor at Lincoln Surgical Hospital. “They are organized and knowledgeable which gives you confidence that the execution of the product will be just as smooth and successful! As a longtime customer, I can assure you their support staff are just as skilled and take pride in their product and how it works for you.”
